The Scheme is designed for those who teach on academic programmes at Regent’s, both full-time and part-time staff. This usually means academic staff, but if you do not think of yourself as an academic but do contribute to teaching on our programmes, it is certainly worthwhile for you to engage with it, possibly alongside other professional development activities. If you do engage in some teaching and/or supporting of student learning, perhaps in a learning support capacity, the Scheme may also offer something for you. In such cases your line manager may not be familiar with this Scheme, so you may need to talk to someone from the Academic Practice Hub.
As well as providing a framework for thinking about your professional development on a annual basis through the PDR, REAP offers routes to Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, as it’s an accredited scheme.
For those who are new to higher education teaching, or who are interested in gaining a formal, recognised Masters level qualification in higher education teaching, our Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education, is an academic programme of workshops and self-directed learning that can be taken over a period of 18 months (minimum) or up to five years (exceptionally). More experienced university teachers may well be more interested in gaining recognition of their experience through Fellowship of the HEA under our REAP scheme.
