The pre-sessional course is designed specifically for students who have been provisionally accepted on a degree programme at Regent's University London. It provides you with an overview of academic culture in the UK, develops your general and academic English skills, and explores different types of academic assessment. Upon successful completion of the course, you can progress directly to your chosen degree programme at Regent’s, provided you have met the course requirements.
This course is suitable for you if you hold an offer from Regent's University London, and need to improve your English language level before starting a degree programme.
This course aims to improve your General English and Academic skills.
It is designed to meet your needs in a variety of situations and aims to bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world.
It will build your confidence in reading, writing, listening and speaking using up to date resources and authentic materials.
It will prepare you academically for university study.
This course will provide you with the English needed to undertake a degree programme at Regent’s. Upon successful completion of our pre-sessional English course, you will be eligible for progression onto your chosen course at Regent's as long as you meet the conditions.

During the course, we also visit some local tourist attractions and discover the local and surrounding areas of the university, which will help you to familiarise yourself with the city and the campus.

You must have a conditional or unconditional offer of a place on a Regent's course. The condition must refer to the level of English required for entry onto that course. You must have met all other admission requirements.
12 week course: Your IELTS score must be no more than 1.0 below the English requirement specified for your chosen course.
8 week course: Your IELTS score must be no more than 0.5 below the English requirement specified for your chosen course.
4 week course: You must have an unconditional offer of a place on a Regent's course

Applying to study at Regent's is a quick and easy process. We accept direct applications and have no formal application deadlines.
You will focus on a range of study skills required to undertake university study, such as note-taking, summarising, understanding lectures, text structure, presentations and participating in seminars and tutorials.
You will also engage in practical, meaningful and purposeful activities that will promote your language learning both inside and outside the classroom.
Your teacher will give you a tutorial every four weeks to talk about your progress and to give you advice on which areas to focus on. You will be assessed regularly throughout the course, by means of essays, oral presentations, course work and a final written examination. Acceptance onto your degree programme is at the discretion of Regent's University London.

Having looked at loads of English courses in London, I found Regent's the best option for my studies, not only because of the magnificence of its campus but also because of the quality of the programme.
